06 Mar CCSD observes School Social Work Week
Gov. Brian Sandoval has issued a proclamation declaring this week (March 6-10) as School Social Work Week in Nevada. The proclamation celebrates the progress that has been made since the creation of the Office for a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment (OSRLE) within the Nevada Department of Education. Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction Steve Canavero said, “We have made tremendous strides in the state’s efforts to reduce bullying and enhance the development of a safe and respectful learning environment for all students since Gov. Sandoval announced the creation of the Social Workers in Schools block grant in 2015.” There are now 227 Social Workers in Schools professionals serving 166 campuses across 11 school districts and seven charter academies in Nevada.
